Water Quality
The water in Buckland Park Lake is enjoyed all year round by many swimmers and water sports enthusiasts. The SHAC have worked on the water at Buckland Park for a number of years and we have consistently experienced no issues with the water and have had only positive responses from our clients regarding the water quality.
The water is monitored continuously by The SHAC team and to ensure that there is no risk of cross contamination from other bodies of water used by SHAC clients we insist that good practice is followed and that any equipment brought to BPL is washed prior to arrival, whether that is a wetsuit or a paddleboard.
Nature is also on our side. We are fortunate that there are no streams or rivers flowing into the lake and therefore the risk of cross-contamination is negligible. The lake is within an old sand quarry, which is below the level of the water table, and the water is artesian water bubbling up through the ground out of a major underground aquifer.
Water samples are regularly taken and sent off for water quality testing and the tests are measured for the following –
E-Coli, Total Coliforms, Enterococci, Blue Green Algae, Hydrogen Ion (pH) and Phosphorus.
The results of the most recent water tests can be found onsite in either the SHAC noticeboard or on the SHAC building, or both.
